oh my gosh that video had me sobbing like a baby. :c
I love those pokemon like I love my own team. <333 It's been absolutely amazing reading your journey through Kanto, and I'll certainly be back to see your run through HeartGold. ~<3
It's pretty funny that I discover and read your comic on the day you post the second-last episode of it. I'll be following your HeartGold run completely, though, and just want to say that it was awesome!
I have been following it alot, maybe Near your Updates at Rick's... Rick was my Fav all of the Pokemon of yours. I Skipped the Graveyard vid to Ricks Release, Oh Almighty Song Lover Rick. Well, Good luck on HG... We Wont be able to forget This Universe, Really. This Petty, This Gary, These Pokemon, This Mewtwo...
That video almost made me cry. Seems everything with Rick does. This is the one nuzlocke I've seen that was truly on par with that of Nuzlocke himself. Through this I have come to feel a greater attachment to every pokemon you've used, and if I ever do another Kanto run, there's a good chance It'll be my first Bulbasaur run. Thank you for a brilliant comic.
Crap, I'm in tears.
That was a beautiful, and sad ending.
Your comic is amazing!
You really made me feel what she was feeling at the time.
I can't wait for HG.
I haven't read a single one that has come close to as good as your's.
Keep up the great work, and best of luck with HG.
Man ... I discovered this comic not too long ago. Read it all in couple of evenings ... I must confess that at first I didn't care much about it, but after a while I came to like it. Even love it. I've read it like ten times now and it was so good! Really touching and funny. Almost cried at some parts, and that says a lot.
It also introduced me to the wonders of nuzlocke, which I'm very grateful for. It's a completely new and awesome way to play the games. So thanks for that, and the comic! Looking forward to see what happens in HeartGold, I'll definitely follow it!
I just wanted to leave a comment to let you know what a wonderful job you did. I discovered this run just a couple weeks ago, and it was so well-written I was laughing and crying along with Locke. The cast, with all of their quirks, captured my heart. (Rick is my favorite.)
I may be a late comer, but better late than ever. And let me tell you, it takes something really special to make me bawl at a story. And you more than brought it to the table.
Also, as a fellow animation student, I delighted in seeing how it impacted your storytelling, and could easily put it in motion in my head.
Gosh, I didn't mean to gush this much. I hope I didn't come across as some random creepy girl on the internet.
Regardless, thank you for the excellent comic. And I look forward to your next run.
P.S. You have actually inspired a friend of mine and myself to consider doing the same, also illustrated, and concurrently.
I live in a family of artists and I still must say you are an incredible drawer. your stories rock too. and your nuzlocke challenge is awesome. t:D>: (can anyone see this as a face (^ ^) with a beard hair and feet?)
Oh, the womanly tears that have been shed. I don't know if you know this, but I think this Nuzlocke comic is one of the best all around. It saddens me that this adventure is over, but I can't wait until the HGSS comic. Don't stop being awesome. <3
I have a question. When it says 'To Be Concluded', does that mean there's still a page or two left here, or is it just going right into the prologue for HeartGold? Do I need to keep watching this comic or just carry on with the other one?
I only just recently discovered your Nuzlocke run through Leaf Green and I enjoyed every page/video from start to finish! I still can't believe how attached I was to those characters (it seems so silly!). I kept realising whenever one 'died' how I'd gotten so used to their character, and then they'd suddenly be gone!
Very funny, and very dramatic, I love it! And I'll be following your adventures in Heart Gold closely from now on :D
Well... I'm happy to say I love this WAY more than I love the original Nuzlocke... I mean, this turned a simple child's video game into something dramatic, tear-jerking, inspiring. I mean, the end was amazing. Can't wait for HeartGold.
I really enjoyed your comic, I read through it in one sitting. ^^ Your story's really touching, and the plot points were a nice touch. In fact, you've inspired me to think of my own for my Nuzlocke run, haha. Well, I guess I'll see you on your HG run! C:
god I almost cried ;____; and that's why I never could do this challenge I'm just to weak. I always give all my pokemon names and grow attached to them though they're just pixels. I could never imagine anyone of them dead.
I LOVE MY PIXELS MKAY?
But yeah, your comic was very entertainig, emotional, serious but had it's funny momets, too. Keep up with the good work!
I felt some good feels.
@Petty: Petty, I thank you for this comic, my friend Ryan posted the link to this comic on his page, so, I was bored and clicked it, and never thought I would have these feels.
I thank you Locke, and I was saddest when Rick died.
And I thought that Lulu was going to die, but I was happy when she didn't and when you had to kill Mewtwo, I capped it, it was epic in my opinion, also, it had some slight distinction to the Pokemon Adventures Manga, when Red catches Mewtwo
I have read a lot of Nuzlocke challenge comics. Every time I do, they make me realize I would never be able to do one myself. And yours was the first story that made me cry. I literally...I mean, I was SOBBING, and they're not even my Pokemon! Oh my god I was such a baby at the end oh my GOD.
You did an excellent job. This is one of the best comics I've ever read, and you captured all of the heart-wrenching moments perfectly. I can't even begin to think of how horrible it must have been for you to go through, but thank you for sharing it with us.
Win. Tears. Love.
the three things that i feel about this comic. You have proven the true reason of the Nuzlocke Challange. Your artwork has done something thats no other comic has done to me, it has made me cry with tears of sadness and joy for the happiness of thier emoion.
I've read, re-read, then read it all over again. This nuzlocke has been truly awesome, and has made me want to attempt my own several times now. I think I cried every time with Broseph. Thank you for this wonderful comic!
Also I've heard about you since the second re-read from my buddy forbiddenhero aka Jeremy, and it's been good things. I promise. ^_^ Once again, thank you for the awesome comic. I've read and re-read all that you have for your other comic as well, so... yeah. I like your storytelling. :3
Cant believe its over!
Man, I found this while trying to promote my friends comic and went thru all of it with intensity! I am sad I didnt get to be here while it was still running!
My friend just started up his gaming comic so maybe it can fill in the place for a few people that this comic left behind.

And then I broke.
Several times, I was almost in tears. Then the ghosts of the team appeared. I cried like a child. And I'm not afraid to admit that. This has been an experience like no other. And I shall be reading your HG story as well. I'm proud to say this was my first read, but it won't be my last. Thank you for this wonderful experience. Bless you Petty.
Ok, I didn't want to hoard the whole thing with comments so here goes just one at the end. I read this whole Nuzlocke on just one night, I literally couldn't stop myself til the end, no matter how tired I was and no matter it was a week day and I had to wake up early at the next morning. It was emotional. It was sad and happy and a whole range of emotions. It was simply great. It was incredibly well drawn. It was a great artistic aproach story-wise. And the songs and videos just made it x100 better. Thank you.
Guys i wanna tell ya a story of mine i had a piplup in diamond he lived a healthy life from lvl 5-60 in the battle of the champion cynthia she destroyed him (sniff) with her garchomp my dialga avenged notice (he was my first nuzlocke and starter) sniff so defend it with all you can (sniff) I love him to this very day and forever currently i dont do nuzlocke because it made me heart broken currently i have a prinplup named junior (Sniff)
This has got to be my favorite webcomic ever. I just read through a second time, and it's still amazingly touching. The plot is phenomenal, too! I'll have to admit to crying to the Rick and final death videos - both times! Taking such a classic game that defined my childhood and giving it deeper meaning like this... you're fantastic! Thank you very much for drawing this!
I discovered the world of Nuzlocke recently and it didnt take long to end up on your comic. Lets say it left an impression...
I cannot for the life me hear that Simon & Garfunkel song anymore without feeling terribly emotional.
Be proud of your work, its truly one of the greats!
That was enjoyable. But God-dammit! I keep reading what starts out as a humorous comic and then it turns into a sad one!
One last thing, does Locke have a character profile and how do you pronounce her name? I at first pronounced it "Lock" then by the end "Loh-kee" but I just don't know.
The whole thing.
After seeing a link to this is some comment on reddit, I spent the last 3 hours going through this whole comic and watching all the videos. Relationships were made that are so hard to break. Odette, Rick, Nadine. Those were sad. It was sad to see some characters die that never had a chance to develop. I really wanted to see more of Leroy or Phil or maybe even Vinny. But this was great, and you are great for drawing it all up so other people could experience it. Thank you.
If anyone with a paypal account is reading this please listen. Go to Itoshii's Crazy Nuzlocke Adventures a pokemon sapphire nuzlocke and read the latest page. I can't do much more about the situation because i'm only 12.
The Power of Storyline
I actually want to play a Nuzlocke run now. I've always avoided them before this, as I knew I'd be one of those people who sit in one place and grind until we're 15 levels ahead of everyone because we're paranoid. Still, the storyline makes me want to, even though I know I'll have to use my own imagination for my own storyline. Ugh, work.
I loved it!
I loved the comic even more than the original nuzlocke! I loved the comedy, romance, sadness, and the characters too! My favorite Pokemon was totally Barbs. The only thing I didn't like was what happened to Gary. Despite his attitude, and being Gary himself of course, he was one of my favorite characters. Great Work!!!
Gosh.. Poor Locke.
All the stuff that Locke endures through this Adventure is enough to make a Grown Man cry. Nadine's death almost made me Cry.. God, It's just so heartbreaking to read this again. Though I thought that Spuds & Barb looked cute together. ^^ I also watched the Epilogue Video... We'll all look back at this and Remember how awesome it was. R.I.P Rick, Odette, Vinny, Nadine, Etc... You will all be missed.....
Wow. That was quite the run. I really liked the easy-going start, but as it went on it became more serious and dramatic. I also kinda liked the "relationship" between Spuds and Barb. I was also really shocked when I saw Gary's right arm had been cut clean off. To be honest, den outta den (10/10). Great story. Keep it up!
A small tribute
One for the Rick's endless music.
One for my heart, split in two by Boris's death.
One for Vinnny, whose death shocked me to the very core.
One for Sashimi, who taught me that though she may be weak, she had undying perseverance.
One for Nadine, whose demise burned my heart to ashes.
One for everyone else and their eternal loyalty.
May everyone rest in peace. Arceus bless you and your surviving team, Locke.
What a trip!
It's been a lot of fun reading these Nuzlocke comics and in fact, they've inspired me to FINALLY start picking up on mine (Which I had previously given up on.) These comics were great time killers and they were funny as well as sad. Overall, it was really enjoyable and I'm glad I found these comics on the web.
Thanks for the inspiration
Petty, that was quite a ride! Even though I've read a BUNCH of Nuzlocke Comics, yours is still hands down my FAVORITE!!! While I enjoyed reading all the others, yours was the one where I felt inspired to say: "Alright, I'm doing a run now!" I'm still playing through it (At the E4 right now), but I've enjoyed my adventure, and learned a lot from it! So thanks for that! Keep going!
